Digital Business Evolution

I have always been an advocate for technology, but just like any invention, it can be used for good or harm, so we need to work hard to develop the good and mitigate the harm.

Technologies such as Cloud Computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are driving the Digital Transformation and fundamentally changing the fabric of our everyday life; changing society and empowering people in new ways by enabling breakthrough advances in areas like healthcare, agriculture, education and transportation.

Nowadays, thanks to affordable Smart Phones and the simplicity of Social Media everyone is Online. Which is changing the way we do business by providing unique opportunities for businesses to reach each individual of their targeted niche market no matter how small the segment is.

In a world where price is not the only factor specially when competing in a culture of connected customers, where alternatives to your products and services are a mere click or swipe away. Therefore, the differentiator becomes the CX (Customer Experience), as many people are willing to pay more in return of a better, frictionless journey. In addition, improving this journey means improving people, processes, product, and delivery to customer, which helps improving satisfaction, loyalty and supports achieving the overall business goals.

In a study done by PWC found that “52 percent of consumers would pay more for greater speed and efficiency; 43 percent would pay more for greater convenience”, Also Forrester recently Mapped Customer Experience Index (CXi) with Stock Performance, which clearly shows that leaders in CXi outperform competition. While Large and small companies alike need technology to operate effectively, both business owners and internal IT staff would prefer focusing on revenue enhancing tasks like CX , product development or the creation of cutting-edge applications/services, rather than focusing on mundane network operations maintenance, repetitious monitoring of servers and storage infrastructure, day-to-day operations and help desk duties.

On the other hand, as online presence provides business opportunities, but also opens the door for a flood of additional risks. Today, businesses are always under attack, so Cybersecurity became more than a technology issue, it is rather a leading business threats in the world, and it is growing.

Throughout my career, I have spoken to many professionals who do not take security seriously, they always argue “Who on earth would target my company (or me)? We are nobody!”. Well, maybe that is true, but you need to bear-in-mind that almost 50% of hacks are opportunistic attacks (Fig 2), so even if no one is targeting you specifically, you and your company are still at serious risk.

As cyber threats evolve and become more complex, many businesses recognize they cannot manage the challenge alone. They simply cannot afford to hire top-notch security experts and invest in a technology that is not directly linked to your core business with clear Return of Investment (ROI).

While it’s quite challenging to outsource every element of IT Infrastructure and Security all at once, but it is always beneficial to out-task certain services. A typical example of this would be using a partner to monitor Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems or network traffic. These tasks can be complex and for better protection, they are required 24/7.

That is why companies are turning to Managed Services Providers (MSPs), like STS, to serve as a partner that provides a cost-effective alternative to manage the monitoring, detecting, investigating, alerting and responding to cyber threats.

William H. Webster (Former FBI Director): “Security is always too much until the day it is not enough”.

We at STS are proud of our experience with a variety of businesses and organizations, taking it upon ourselves to help businesses wield the tech at-hand to mitigate business risks and keep their business relevant and on-track with continually evolving technology, support, and productivity demands.

“The world is moving so fast these days, that the man who say it can’t be done is generally interrupted by someone already doing it” Elbert Hubbard, writer

Finally, I urge all business owners and entrepreneurs to focus on their core business and grow their digital potential. As technology continues to grow and evolve, new business opportunities are manifesting before our eyes each day, all we have to do is to be well positioned to see it and have the right Technology Partner to be able to act upon it.
